John Murray of “New Melbourne Jazz band” fame, trombone/vocals. Mike Longhurst, Mike, for many years played with wonderful “Frank Traynor jazz band”, clarinet. John Withers, John has played with many bands in his long career, including the famous “Rod Mason jazz band”, “George Webb’s dixielanders”, Society Syncopators, “Hotter than six Fireworks jazz band”, the list goes on…, banjo/ukulele.
The ladies are the really wonderful part of this group, both being relatively new to performing jazz, Brenda Withers, once married to the late jazz trumpeter, Frank Johnson, bass. Jo Simon, Jo has been involved with music for some time both as a piano teacher and vocalist, it was only by chance that while attending a jam session she was asked to try a couple of jazz songs, the result was instantaneous, a new jazz singer was born, in just a few short months, Jo has built up an amazing repertoire of jazz songs, including many that require the sort of talent that only the very best singers can perform.
