Floating Land Eco Lounge
For 9 days during the Floating land festival the Apollonian will be the host of the Floating land Eco lounge, hosting multiple events and artists. Floating Land is a biennial 10-day environmental art festival held on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia that brings together international, national and local artists to explore environmental themes through art and dialogue.
Where: Apollonian Hotel, Laguna Street, Boreen Point – Map – about a 30 minute drive from Noosa Beach.

Judith Wright Tribute Evening
A fireside evening dedicated to Judith Wright as we launch the Eco Lounge program, which over 10 days, presents a series of performances in spoken word, theatre, satire, music and film. Join our illustrious line-up of wordsmiths, poets and story tellers, who pay tribute to one time Boreen Point resident Judith Wright’s literary works on this special day (today is Judith’s birthday). Featuring special family guests, niece, Gemma Wright, local story teller Gail Robinson and ex Minister for the Arts and avid admirer, Matt Foley. Dinner available from 6pm.

The Garden of Heaven
An insightful dialogue into Islamic design through understanding the role of nature, reflected, celebrated and sanctified in the Persian Islamic art tradition, with a focus on the key symbol of the Sacred Tree. One performance only.

Dervish Tales of Nature
A celebration of traditional Sufi stories and poems of nature put to music, presented by Arsalan Mozaffari spoken in Falarti spoken in Farsi and English, accompanied by Gretta Kelly on the traditional Kamanche (Persian Spike fiddle). One performance only.
When: 3:00pm- 3:45pm
A fine evening of fireside entertainment at the Eco Lounge, as Floating Land presents for your listening pleasure, a musical melange of Leunig inspired tunes, vocal virtuosity and riotous revelry. Dinner available from 6pm.

Ecoflicks – NICA, followed by Living Smart films for thought – No Impact Man
An Eco Lounge evening of fireside warmth and viewing of the best of finalists for NICA’s 2010, 2011, 2012 NICA’s Ecoflicks short film festival: A finalist in the Healthy Waterways Awards for community engagement. Ecoflicks aims to raise awareness about the importance of the natural environment and systems. This will be followed by Living Smarts films for thought series featuring ‘No Impact Man’. A guilty New York Liberal decides to practice what he preaches for one year; turns off the electricity, stops making garbage, gives up TV taxis, and takes time out to become a walking bicycling, composting, tree hugging, polar bear saving, and local food eating citizen. All the while taking his baby daughter and caffeine-obsessed television addicted wife along with him! Dinner starts from 6pm.

Living Smart – films for thought, ‘Waste Land’
WASTE LAND follows renowned artist Vik Muniz as he journeys from his home base in Brooklyn to his native Brazil and the world’s largest garbage dump, Jardim Gramacho, There he photographs an eclectic band of catadores—self-designated pickers of recyclable materials. The film offers stirring evidence of the transformative power of art and the alchemy of the human spirit. Dinner available from 6pm.

Greed is Always Greener on the Other Side with Beverlee Lumpit
A riotous satire which reveals our complicity, complexity, contradictions and innate dysfunctions often ignored in the quest for wanting change/progress at any cost. Everything is up for grabs, “When more is never enough”. Be prepared to be challenged as this “Agent of the Estate” brings her irreverent performance to our rampant consumer culture, milked from every sacred cow. Warning: Adults Only: Ms Lumpit’s performances are not for the kiddies-over 18 a must. One performance only.

A Floating Land allstars finale of our community and artists to celebrate the culmination of 10 days of art, culture and performance. Launching with the dynamic Leweton String Band (Matto) from Vanuatu. A truly mesmerising performance fusing traditional beats and rhythms with ukulele-led melodies and soaring vocal harmonies.
